What is the Red Carpet Foundation?
The Red Carpet Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides people facing life-threatening challenges the exciting opportunity to walk the red carpet and attend exclusive events such as the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, and movie premieres in Hollywood . The Foundation also preserves the history of the red carpet and educates the public about its historical significance.
Who do you benefit?
Most directly, we benefit young people who are dealing with life-threatening challenges by granting them access to red carpet events. The Foundation hopes that an experience of a red carpet event will uplift and empower individuals to overcome the fear, sadness, and uncertainty of a life-threatening challenge.
Why the red carpet?
The red carpet's power to thrill audiences has existed from its birth in 1922. Allowing our beneficiaries to walk the red carpet makes them to feel like a celebrity. For individuals facing life-threatening challenges this can have an enormous impact on their will to overcome their challenge and remain strong during times of adversity.
Historically, the red carpet is important because it is one of entertainment's longest lasting legacies. Aside from the world of entertainment, the red carpet plays a unique role in our cultural identity.
Does someone have to be terminally ill to participate in the “Access Red Carpet” program?
No. Many of the Foundation's beneficiaries are facing serious challenges that are not related to a terminal medical condition.
Who can be nominated to walk the red carpet?
Anyone who has overcome, or is dealing with, a life-threatening challenge is eligible to be nominated for the Red Carpet Foundation's “Access Red Carpet” program.
How do you nominate someone to walk the red carpet?
Nominations are made through the “contact” link on our website. Once received, our board of directors chooses who will become a RCF beneficiary.
Does the family have to pay to walk the red carpet?
No. All expenses are fully covered, including all travel and spending money when appropriate.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. The Red Carpet Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As such, financial contributions may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Please consult with your financial advisor to determine the extent of tax deductibility.
How does the Red Carpet Foundation spend their money?
83 cents of every dollar donated to the Red Carpet Foundation goes to program services.
Who supports the Foundation?
While the Red Carpet Foundation is relatively new, it has received widespread support from many of the industry's most prominent studios and celebrities. Among our supporters are Universal Pictures, Disney Pictures, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and actor Colin Farrell. We look forward to seeing the list ofsupporters grow in the coming months as we draw upon the entertainment community for assistance in fulfilling our mission.
